Street Kitchen saves dinner again

I try not to be, but ultimately I am a lazy person. I try to find the quickest and most efficient way of doing things - not because I actually want to be efficient, but because the sooner something is done the sooner I can do stuff I actually like doing.  And I like cooking, but cooking dinner every night is kind of boring and tedious, and when I get home from work I want to veg out and play video games while binging on audiobooks or TV shows.  ANYWAY.

A few months back I discovered Street Kitchen.  Josh loves Indian food (and so do I), but it's difficult to get it right when you're cooking from scratch and on a budget, so these "kits" were the answer.  And after we discovered how much we love the Indian kits they carry, I branched out to their Korean and Mexican varieties.  As much as I despise Walmart, I'll be forever grateful that they stock these.

Now, the kits come with detailed instructions that explain how to cook with them to create authentic food.  I'm lazy, like I said before, so I just throw everything in the crock pot on my lunch break.  AND THIS TOTALLY WORKS.  Maybe one day I'll get really creative and try to make dinner per the instructions, but so far, the results have been amazing.  And delicious.

And cheap. Street Kitchen kits run about $3 at Walmart.  I'm sure it would be cheaper to have all the spices on hand, but they also provide things like coconut milk and curry sauce, which takes all the work out of it.  Our favorites are the Red Thai Curry, the Green Thai Curry, the Coconut Chicken Curry, and (as of tonight) the Indian Butter Chicken.

If you guys try them, let me know.  We haven't tried many of them yet, but I'm open to ideas.  I'm thinking about doing Korean BBQ Beef sometime...

  1. I love kits like these. I have also gotten pre-made asian-inspired sauces from Target and paired those with chicken or shrimp. You can also add in things like dried apricots, chick peas, potatoes--pretty much anything you like. I've also added cream/milk or chicken broth to thin out and stretch the sauce.

    1. Some weeks I will do this every night with rice. It's just so easy, and they actually taste good...
